During the foundation of the Renaissance, did you know there are five key periods in history? The five are ancient Greece in (c.700 BCE-c.300 BCE), ancient Rome, Christianity, Islam, and medieval or Middle Ages.

I am writing about ancient Greece. What I like about ancient Greece is their architecture. They were the first to set architectural rules and also influenced Rome's architecture. And that made a big change for the future. "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of other." (Pericles)

The designs of their columns, temples, theater, and stadiums are absolutely beautiful. There are three styles of architecture called the Greek Orders, they're the Doric, Ionic, and the Corinthian these determine the style of the columns. "Greek architecture is the flowering of geometry." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Buildings Based on Classical Greek Architecture."

These types of styles have been used many places and in the United States too. The United State Capitol has the ancient Greek architectural design.

Temples and columns were made out of mud, brick, timber, and marble. The columns were also carved of stone. In the much earlier times columns were carved out of wood.

As you may see, ancient Greece has given the gift of its work of art to others to experience that beauty too. Next time when you see these building you will remember a little piece of ancient Greece's history.
